Low Cost:
There is a generally accepted rule in the business world. Those who obtain quality at low costs win. Cost of galvanizing is lower than the cost of alternative coating methods in many applications. When compared to painting, cost of hot-dip galvanizing method is lower in the long term (see Graphics). Cost of alternative coating methods (especially painting) is higher than the cost of galvanizing. The reason is simple: Hot dip galvanizing is a factory process in which many parts in large lots may be coated in a short time, with less labor and at low costs.
Of course, expensive metals like nickel, chrome and even gold are better than zinc in protection against corrosion. However, you cannot coat your steel building with gold. But of course, this is your decision.
Moreover, when the nickel, copper, brass etc. coatings are damaged, steel directly comes across with a corrosive environment and is corrupted. Nothing happens to the outer coating. However, in HDG, firstly zinc sacrifices itself. In addition, only the damaged parts are corrupted in case of local impacts and the corruption does not expand. Easy Application:
HDG provides a full protection in several minutes, but a period of several weeks is needed for a four-layer painting process. You wait for suitable weather conditions. You do not need these in HDG. The application is made in the factory. You load the product, directly take it to the assembly area and immediately start the assembly. You will not bear an intermediate shipping cost.
Low Service Cost:
Initial cost of hot dip galvanizing is low and also eliminates the service costs during its use thanks to its resistance without needing any maintenance-repair for at least 20 years, depending on the environmental conditions. . However, the other coatings like painting should be renewed and repaired again and again in such use periods of 20 years. By hot dip galvanizing, the problem of repairing in unapproachable and nested structures and in plants where production cannot be stopped is eliminated.
Thus, the paid painting workmanship that we frequently encounter especially in urban settlements dies out.
Extending Steel's Life
Advantages of hot dip galvanizing, lifetime of which in every environment may be estimated and which has a long lifetime under the most severe atmospheric conditions, have been proved with researches and experiences of long years. They resist at least 10-20 years in the most severe industrial and marine environments and more than 25 years in more harmless environments without requiring maintenance and repair. Kalite Kontrolda Kolaylık Sağlar;
Kaplama kontrolü, kaplamanın standartlarına (ISO 1461, ASTM A 123, BS 729, DIN 50976, TSE 914) uygun kalınlıkta yapılıp yapılmadığının kontrolüdür. Testler mikrometre veya tahribatsız muayene ölçüm aletleriyle kolayca yapılıp, standartlara uygunluğu karşılaştırılır. (bkz.standartlar)

Üçüncüsü, hasar gören bölge daha büyük olduğunda çinko kaplama, çeliğe göre daha elektronegatif olduğundan çelikten önce korozyona uğrayarak çeliği korumaya devam eder.

Zinc, which is one of the reactive electrochemical metals, exists in the nature as mineral like many other metals.
Zinc is used in many sectors that facilitate our daily lives. For example, zinc oxide (ZnO) is widely used with the name zinc white or snow white in the industries of glass, enamel, rubber, paint, (pigment), ceramic, plastic and paper.
Zinc chloride (ZnCl2) is used to prevent the decay of timber. Zinc Sulphate (ZnSO4) is used in the production of reyan and fibrin, in the preparation of lithopone, in processing certain industrial waters and in pharmacy.
With its specific characteristics, Zinc based alloys have a great importance in industry (Zamak, Lizro and Kayem).
Zinc is the most important one among more than 200 enzymes having vital importance in human health. Zinc stabilizes and strengthens DNA structure. It contributes to the regularity of the nervous system. There is 2-3 grams zinc in human body. However, humans need more than this amount. Especially the children, elders, helpless people and pregnant women need more.
Zinc Containing Food;
The main foods that contain zinc are as follows: fish, oyster, red meat, fowls, cereal, and milk products.
Zinc Deficiency;
Zinc deficiency causes various negative effects on human body. The main negative effect is the lack of support to the immune system due to zinc deficiency. Zinc has antioxidant property. That is, it eliminates the oxidation caused in the cells by the air we breathe in (particularly if we are in an industrial environment).
Just as zinc prevents the oxidation of metal in galvanizing, it protects the cells in human brain against aging as a mineral.
In addition, zinc deficiency influences the sense of smell and taste and causes mental torpidity, decrease in sexual urge and problems of productivity.
People in many underdeveloped countries deals, which are obliged to eat foods not rich in zinc due to economic incapacities and insensitivity of governments, deal with diseases arising from zinc deficiency.
There is no case of death etc. that is caused by zinc abundance in the literature. However, there are many cases recorded as a result of zinc deficiency.
Zinc Use in Agriculture and Animal Breeding Sector;
Zinc is an oligoelement playing an important role in the growth of plants. Zinc deficiency causes shrink and abscission in plants. Throwing lime and zinc sulphide in reasonable amounts to the soil or leaf in the form of powder is one of the techniques to eliminate this deficiency. Thus, output, especially of leaved vegetables, increases.
Certain amounts of zinc ash are put in the forages to improve the immune system and increase the productivity of animals, as they are compared with the human body.
Pharmacy;
Zinc powder is antiseptic and relaxes the central nervous system. Zinc oxide is tranquilizer. In addition, it is applied outside in the form of pomade as insulator. For example, there is 10% zinc oxide pomade in vaseline and 25% zinc oxide in various pastes and they are written on prescriptions.
With its deoxygenating property, Zinc Peroxide is used as antiseptic, especially in case of leg ulcers.

Use in metal coating;
Zinc has been used in protection of steel against corrosion for 150 years. Zinc has a metal with strong environmental impact. . Çinko çevresel etkisi güçlü bir metaldir.
When it is used as metal, the atmospheric dissolution arising from the contact with oxygen does not cause the release of substances damaging the environment. Zinc sacrifices itself while trying to protect steel. It acts as a victim as required for its natural structure. It provides a certain thickness depending on the coating process and structure of the coated metal. The highest thickness is obtained by hot dip galvanizing. This value ranges between 400-100 gr/m2. This thickness provides a service life from 20 years to 100 years. That is, the coated steel will be utilized for such a long time and eliminate the risk of polluting the environment to be caused by the degradation of steel. The brown substance that come out of the corroded metal, which is known as rust, causes big damages to the human body when penetrates. It rapidly spreads with the bloodstream and gives negative effects to the vital organs. Tetanus is the most important one among these effects.
